Jim Thomas
Jim Thomas, B.Sc.(Engineering), L.L.B. brings extensive executive / Deputy Minister level management expertise and a recognized negotiations and facilitation background to all of his consulting assignments. He has provided many government departments and public sector organizations with strategic solutions to solve their toughest problems. He seeks consensus and buy-in and achieves these objectives by conducting and facilitating workshops and sessions that invariably achieve desired outcomes. His expertise in governance and strategic planning has assisted numerous government departments, public sector organizations and credit unions in improving the effectiveness of boards, senior management teams, and their organizations.
Some of his more significant assignments include:
- Assisting Health Canada in developing and
implementing a solution to a challenging First Nations and Inuit information
privacy and consent issue
- Facilitating numerous strategic and board
planning sessions with large credit unions in Ontario and across the
country
- Conducting leading-edge self government negotiations
for Indian and Northern Affairs Canada
- Leading the development of a strategic plan
on Diversity and Culture for Canadian Heritage
- Conducting a successful organizational review
of Indian Oil and Gas Canada
- Working with Human Resource Skills Development's
executive team on regional management and organizational alignment
Jim has over eight years of experience leading senior consulting assignments. He is a former Deputy Minister of Labour and Management Board in the Ontario government. He has held other executive and management positions in the Ontario government, in the Ontario Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal, and with Canadian General Electric.
