Mergers, Joint Ventures and Partnerships

Policy and Strategy
We know the importance of good policy formulation in driving change in government. Our deep and diverse background in Aboriginal policy, social policy, health policy, eGovernment, governance and citizen engagement mean you can connect the leading edge ideas of today to create the right policies and strategies for tomorrow.

Recent Projects:

The Crossing Boundaries National Council
Over the past few years we have worked with many senior level officials, politicians, the federal government and with provinces in an innovative, important dialogue on how technology is changing government. This has given rise to the Crossing Boundaries National Council, which is a major policy initiative across all levels of government around how technology can positively impact on service delivery, provision of information and democratic renewal. – David will be modifying this further

Organization and Leadership Effectiveness
We work with senior executives in the public and private sector to help them improve the way they, and their organizations, work. We focus on results and achieving real, tangible, measurable improvements. Our ability to work collaboratively with clients at all levels, without using standardized or toolkit approaches is highly valued by the clients we serve.

Mergers, Joint Ventures and Partnerships
Achieving your organization’s goals doesn’t always mean looking inside your own walls for solutions. Sometimes it means looking outside for the right strategic alliance to get the results you need. But developing the means and the agreements to collaborate effectively is a challenge keenly felt by all those who enter these discussions.

KTA can help. We played a key role in helping two large Ontario credit unions reach an amalgamation agreement, and similarly assisted two large credit unions in Western Canada in reaching agreement around a joint venture. We focus on interest-based negotiations as the key to achieving agreement, and we have an extensive knowledge base of what is required to effect successful collaborations.

Facilitation
KTA plans and facilitates exceptional meetings, conferences, workouts, and online discussion forums. We make meetings work. We get at the real issues and raise the tough questions in ways that result in understanding and, ultimately, consensus. Many times, participants have said at the end of the meeting “I really didn’t think this agreement was possible”.

How do we do it? Lots of preparation up-front so that we know the issue thoroughly. Off-line discussions with participants before the meeting so we know where people stand. Innovative use of technology during the session so that participants can visualize the emerging agreement. Instantaneous summaries during and after each session so participants can see their progress. We’ve facilitated hundreds of meetings and workshops. All have been successful.

Recent Projects:

NSERC facilitation a few years ago (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) – We were sought out by NSERC to assist in the design, delivery and facilitation of cross Canada forums to seek the views of its stakeholders around its future direction. We delivered half a dozen forums and provided NSERC with a final report.
