Marcia Nickerson,
Senior Consultant, Head, Aboriginal Practice Group Most recently Marcia has responsibility for the Aboriginal Voice component of the Crossing Boundaries National Council. This is a collaborative initiative between several federal departments and National Aboriginal Organizations to undertake a national discussion regarding Aboriginal information and technology issues. Within the past five years, Marcia a major role in assisting the Atlantic Policy Congress (APC) on their social reform and governance project under its Political Accord with Canada. She also led a multi-Department partnership project between the KTA Centre and APC on the impact and opportunities for information communications technology for Atlantic First Nations. Marcia has assisted in the research and production of several KTA reports, including the review of the Indian Residential Schools pilot project review, the Privy Council Office Report on Metis and Off-Reserve Aboriginal issues, the political and legal analysis of Pre Confederation litigation, and a Strategic Technology and Information Review (STIR) for INAC, which included the development and implementation of a strategic vision and change management agenda. Before joining KTA in 1999, Marcia spent several years in the public sector where she acted as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs, as a self-government negotiator, and as a Foreign Trade/Team Canada Officer.
